DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We just come and lie at your feet, obedient to that call of yours, “Come unto me all of you who labor and I will give you rest.” Let us feel sweet rest, since we do come at your call. May some come that have never come until this day, and may others who have been coming these many years consciously come again, coming to you as unto a living stone, chosen by God and precious, to build our everlasting hopes upon.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

All laboring and laden ones may come. He does not limit the call to the spiritually laboring, but every working and wearied one is called. It is well to give the largest sense to all that mercy speaks. Jesus calls me. Jesus promises “rest” as his gift, his immediate, personal, effectual rest he freely gives to all who come to him by faith.
