DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Our Father, we would not crouch before you like slaves before a tyrant, but we feel the spirit of adoption, which shall draw us into familiar communication with you; though still with holy trembling, for you are God in heaven and we are still but men upon the earth, and at the very sight of you we feel a trembling coming over us; yet is there joy with it and you have taught us to rejoice with trembling.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
âNot only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruitsâwe also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.â (Romans 8:23)
The soul has obtained its redemption. Therefore, our heart is glad and our glory rejoicing. But our body has not yet obtained its redemption. That is to come at the resurrection. Then will be the adoption. âWaiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.â Oh, blessed fact! Though now, along with the whole creation, the body is subjected to bondages, yet it shall be delivered, and weâthe whole man, body as well as soul and spiritâshall be brought into the liberty of the children of God.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weâre praying for the Batahin of Sudan.
Psalm 82:8 says âall the nations belong to you.â The Batahin belong to Jesus, but they have not given themselves to him. For the name of Jesus, we must go.
Pray that the gospel would be preached among the Batahin and believed.
