DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Our Father, we would not crouch before you like slaves before a tyrant, but we feel the spirit of adoption, which shall draw us into familiar communication with you; though still with holy trembling, for you are God in heaven and we are still but men upon the earth, and at the very sight of you we feel a trembling coming over us; yet is there joy with it and you have taught us to rejoice with trembling.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits—we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.” (Romans 8:23)

The soul has obtained its redemption. Therefore, our heart is glad and our glory rejoicing. But our body has not yet obtained its redemption. That is to come at the resurrection. Then will be the adoption. “Waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” Oh, blessed fact! Though now, along with the whole creation, the body is subjected to bondages, yet it shall be delivered, and we—the whole man, body as well as soul and spirit—shall be brought into the liberty of the children of God.

Homeschooling this year? Lead your kids to be LIFELONG followers of Jesus

If you’re homeschooling this year, I’m sure you’re in the thick of planning right now. How are you planning for the long term discipleship of your kids?

My series of family devotionals, God Centered Family, is all about long-term faith, not quick results. Many families use these devotionals to start each day of homeschool.

These devotionals seek to lay three crucial foundations for a life of discipleship:

  • Bible Habits — Cultivate a daily habit of Bible reading that will follow your kids for the rest of their lives.

  • Bible Knowledge â€” By reading the ENTIRE Bible every three years, you’ll give your kids a thorough biblical literacy that will protect your kids from false teaching and sin.

  • Bible Skills — Don’t make your kids sit through the Bible — train them to engage with the Bible, ask good questions, and dive deep.

In a world of distractions, kids need the Bible more than anything. Parents, you are better equipped than anyone to teach it to them. Get everything you need from God Centered Family.
