DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Jesus, once the dying Savior, but now risen and ascended, will you not look after us? We do believe that you can save. You are very God of very God; there is nothing impossible with you. Here on your cross we hang; into your hands we commend our spirits without reserve. We have no hope but in you. We believe that you are mighty to save, and that you can save us, even us. Let each man say—“Even me; even me,” and may there be, in every individual, a distinct and personal putting himself into the hands of the great savior, by an act of simple faith. “Lord save me, or I perish.” “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” Let this be the prayer of each heart this morning.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives to the point of death.” (Revelation 12:11)
The death of the Son of God is the grand fact set forth by the words “the blood of the Lamb.” The death of Christ is the death of sin and the defeat of Satan; therefore, it is the life of our hope and the assurance of Christ’s victory. We are to regard Satan as already literally and truly overcome through the death of the Lord Jesus. He is a vanquished enemy. By faith, let us grasp our Lord’s victory as our own since he triumphed in our nature and on our behalf. The voice of the dragon has been silenced by the blood of the Lamb.

Preparing for a new year of homeschool? Put God’s Word at the center
Challenge for HOMESCHOOL parents: Begin every day of the new school year with family Bible reading and prayer. Can you imagine how beneficial that would be for your kids (and you?!)
Some of the benefits you’ll find if you begin your school day in the Word and in prayer:
Your kids will learn the Bible! (The most important thing they’ll learn that day, in my opinion!)
It will set the tone for the day (An encounter with God’s grace will help us extend grace to one another)
It dedicates our day to God (As we pray, asking him to help us with our school day)
… and more!
I’ve been working on a series of family devotionals, God Centered Family, and I love hearing from parents using these devotionals to start their day or as a homeschool Bible curriculum.
The devotionals have everything you need to teach your kids the Bible (in just ten minutes a day).
They cover all of Scripture (every chapter), not just the popular stories
They have questions to help your kids understand and apply what they read
They are filled with interactive resources to help hands-on learners engage with Scripture.
They include bonus activities (like word finds) that can sprinkle more Bible content throughout the school day.
Subscriptions to God Centered Family are just $6 each month, and when you subscribe you’ll get everything you need to get started right away.
As you plan your school year, don’t just plan math, science, and history lessons — make a plan for the long-term discipleship of your kids. Expose them to God’s own Word, which always bears fruit.
