DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Our Father, your children who know you delight themselves in your presence. We are never happier than when we are near you. We have found a little heaven in prayer. Our loads are eased as we tell you about their weight. Our wounds are relieved when we tell you about their pain. Our spirits are restored when we confess their wanderings to you. There is no place like the mercy seat for us.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death….” (Philippians 3:10)
Paul already knew the Lord Jesus by faith; he knew so much of him as to be able to teach others. He had looked to Jesus, and known the power of his death, but he now desired that the vision of his faith might become still better known by experience. Paul desired intimate acquaintance with the Lord Jesus, personal communication with the Lord to such a degree that he should feel his power at every point, and know the effect of all that he had brought out in his life, death, and resurrection. His great desire was to have reproduced in himself the life of Jesus, so as to know all about him by being made like him.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Runga of Chad.
As Muslims, the Runga believe that they must do good deeds and keep the Five Pillars of Islam in order to be saved. The only things they have ever heard about Jesus are the lies told about him in the Quran.
Pray that God would open their eyes to the truth of Christ.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
For married women who are serious about discipleship
Your marriage is a big part of your life in Christ. As we live so closely and intimately with another sinner, our own sins are revealed. If you are a wife, God has given us a unique calling to honor him as a wife. However, a lot of women I know WANT to grow as a wife but they aren’t sure how. Often, these women settle for mere external changes instead of lasting growth.
That’s why I created The God Centered Wife One-Year Journal, an interactive resource for women to use to create a grace-saturated, biblical plan to strengthen their marriages.
Throughout the journal, you’ll find 52 blank weekly pages filled with prompts about your life, marriage, and husband. You’ll be encouraged to think about what about your marriage is hard right now (and why) and cast those cares on to the Lord.
If you’re a bullet journal fan, each week also comes with a dotted grid page for your to-do list, calendar, or anything else.
This journal (as well as the men’s edition for your husband) are available on Amazon. I hope you’ll pick up a copy for yourself, your husband, and a few more for married couples that you know.
