DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We bless you, Divine Son of God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father, that you did not refuse to be born of the Virgin, and that, being found in fashion like a man, you did not refuse to be obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Let your brows be surrounded with something better than thorns; let the eternal diadem forever glitter there. You were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood; unto you be glory, and honor, and power, and majesty, and dominion, and might, forever and ever!
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āSee, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Jobās endurance and have seen the outcome that the Lord brought aboutāthe Lord is compassionate and merciful.ā (James 5:11)
Let us not be persuaded by man or devil to think ill of our God. He has a fatherās heart even when he makes us feel the strokes of his hand. Our God cannot be unkind to us; he cannot forsake us. If we would see his goodness and his justice blended, we must look at the Son of God on the cross, dying in our place. Let us not doubt the tenderness of him who gave his one and only Son.
