DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Jesus, your blood is our cleansing; your righteousness is our covering. We stand accepted in the Beloved because we have believed in your holy name. Let your people enjoy now that sweet peace which comes from being justified by faith. We praise you that we have put our trust in Christ! We have cheerfully received the great Atonement and been saved by it.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“In that day you will not ask me anything. Truly I tell you, anything you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.” (John 16:23)

This is a grand promise. If we dare ask in the name of Christ, and it is not everything that we could ask for in his name—if our petition is such that we honestly judge that we may put Christ’s name to it, if it is a thing that Christ would have asked, if it is a thing that Christ could have asked, let us ask in Christ’s name, and the Father will give it.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Bokoruge of Chad.

Though missionaries are working among the Bokoruge for the first time that we know of, the task of bringing the gospel to a new context is long and challenging. Missionaries have to learn Chad’s trade language (Chadian Arabic or French) to navigate the country, learn the Bokoruge’s language (Daju), understand the Bokoruge’s culture and build trust, and lay a foundation for all of the Bible’s teaching. This is a long work that will require God’s grace.

Pray that God would sustain the missionaries laboring among the Bokoruge.
