DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
God, deliver us we pray from the invasion of sin, as well as from the dominion of it. Grant us to walk as Christ walked; in his newness of life may we live—may the life in the flesh be a life of faith upon the Son of God who loved us, and gave himself for us; and may it be a life of love, and consecration of burning zeal for God; a life of pure holiness such a life as the incarnate God himself has lived among the sons of men.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“But the angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people…’” (Luke 2:10)
We will never know the fullness of the joy that Jesus brings to the soul unless, under the power of the Holy Spirit, we take the Lord our Master to be our all in all, and make him the fountain of our delight! “He is my Savior, my Christ, and my Lord.” Let this be our loudest boast. Then we will know the joy the angel’s song predicts for people.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Kakabe of Guinea.
Guinea has some of the richest soil in the world and yet the Kakabe (mostly farmers) live in poverty because poor infrastructure makes it challenging to export crops.
Pray that God would provide everything the Kakabe need.

“Your enemies will cringe before you, and you will tread on their backs.” (Deuteronomy 33:29)
That arch-enemy, the devil, is a liar from the beginning; but he is so very plausible that, like our mother Eve, we often believe him. Yet our experience proves that he is a liar.
Satan says that we shall fall from grace, dishonor our profession, and perish with the doom of apostates; but, trusting in the Lord Jesus, we shall hold on our way and prove that Jesus loses none whom his Father gave him. Satan tells us that our bread will fail and we shall starve with our children; yet God who feeds the ravens has not forgotten us yet and he will never do so; he will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies.
Satan whispers that the Lord will not deliver us out of the trial which is looming in the distance, and he threatens that the last ounce will break the camel’s back. What a liar he is! For the Lord will never leave us or forsake us. “Let God rescue him now” (Matthew 27:43), cries the false fiend; but the Lord will silence him by coming to our rescue.
He takes great delight in telling us that death will prove too much for us. We shall pass through the river singing psalms of glory.
Something to think about today if you’re feeling worried about your salvation: Look to Christ and you will be saved. He has never turned away anyone.
