DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Oh God, deliver us we pray from the invasion of sin, as well as from the dominion of it. Grant us to walk as Christ walked; in his newness of life may we liveā€”may the life in the flesh be a life of faith upon the Son of God who loved us, and gave himself for us; and may it be a life of love, and consecration of burning zeal for God; a life of pure holiness such a life as the incarnate God himself has lived among the sons of men.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œDo this so that you may fear the LORD your God all the days of your life by keeping all his statutes and commands I am giving you, your son, and your grandson, and so that you may have a long life.ā€ (Deuteronomy 6:2)

It is not only for us to obey the command of the Lord our God, but we should pray until the rest of the verse also comes true: ā€œyou, your son, and your grandson,ā€ our children and our childrenā€™s children. I am sure that, if we love God, we shall long that our children and our childrenā€™s children may love him too. If your trade has supported you, and brought you in a competence, you will naturally wish to bring your son up to it. But, on a far higher platform, if God has been a good God to you, your deepest desire will be that your son and your sonā€™s son should serve the same Divine Master through all the days of their life.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, weā€™re praying for the Kakabe of Guinea.

Guinea has some of the richest soil in the world and yet the Kakabe (mostly farmers) live in poverty because poor infrastructure makes it challenging to export crops.

Pray that God would provide everything the Kakabe need.

Parents, teach your kids the Bible in 2025

Like many of you, Iā€™m a parent. One of my greatest desires for my kids is that they would give their lives to passionately following Jesus. More than just ā€œgetting them into heaven,ā€ I want my kids to have a life-transforming relationship with God that will shape their lives today (and forever).

In a world of distractions, kids need the Bible more than anything. Parents, you are better equipped than anyone to teach it to them.

So hereā€™s my challenge to parents: read the Bible to your kids every day of 2025.

No matter how old they are,
No matter how busy you are,
No matter how unqualified you think you areā€¦

Letā€™s make 2025 a ā€œYear in the Wordā€ for our families.
