DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Christ is everything to us; more than all in Him we find. We do accept you, Lord Jesus, to be made for us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. We will not look for anything apart from you, for everything is in you. Our sin is pardoned, our sinful nature is subdued; we have a perfect righteousness; we have an immortal life; we have a sure hope; we have an immovable foundation. Why should we look beyond you? Why should we look within ourselves, knowing that you will be the only well from which we will draw the living water, the only foundation upon which we will be built. We will plant deep roots today and take fresh hold on the blessed soil in which grace has planted us.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“So it is written, The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” (1 Corinthians 15:45)
Jesus is the representative head of his elect. As in Adam, every heir of flesh and blood has a personal interest because he is the covenant head and representative of the race as considered under the law of works; so under the law of grace, every redeemed soul is one with the Lord from heaven, since he is the Second Adam, the Sponsor and Substitute of the elect in the new covenant of love. Adam’s righteousness was ours so long as he maintained it, and his sin was ours the moment that he committed it; and in the same manner, all that the Second Adam is or does, is ours as well as his, seeing that he is our representative.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Nisu in southwestern China.
The Nisu live in a region of China that is very unevangelized. They are not the only ones with no access to the gospel. If a church is planted among the Nisu, it could send indigenous missionaries all around the region, for there is great work to do.
Pray that a church would be planted and the Nisu would send their own qualified missionaries.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
What is your house built on?
Jesus' most well-known sermon ends with a striking image: those who will hear and do Jesus' words are like someone who built a house on a rock, unshakable in the greatest storms. Those who do not do the words of Jesus are like someone who builds their house on the sand, a quick and devastating catastrophe in the storms.
"Everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24).
This story gives an important question for parents: What are you building your house on? As you look at the patterns and culture of your home, is your family being built on the solid foundation of God's Word?
Or are you building on some other foundation?
If you want your kids to have a strong, unshakable faith in Jesus — the kind of faith that survives storms even after they leave your home — that faith needs to be built on God's Word.
We need to read God's Word to our kids.
God Centered Family will give you everything you need to teach it with confidence. (Check out our family devotionals right here.)
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK
Spurgeon’s classic devotional, The Chequebook of the Bank of Faith, contains a promise of God for every day of the year. Pray with Spurgeon Plus subscribers receive the daily readings every weekday.

“I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts.” (Hebrews 10:17)
According to this gracious covenant, the Lord treats his people as if they had never sinned. He practically forgets all their trespasses. He treats sins of all kinds as if they had never been, as if they were quite erased from his memory. Oh miracle of grace, God forgets — he does that which in some respects is impossible to him. His mercy works miracles which far transcend all other miracles.
Our God ignores our sin now that the sacrifice of Jesus has guaranteed the promise. We may rejoice in him without fear that he will be provoked to anger against us because of our iniquities. He puts us among the children, he accepts us as righteous, and he takes delight in us as if we were perfectly holy. He even puts us into places of trust, makes us guardians of his honor, trustees of his treasure, and stewards of the gospel. He considers us worthy and gives us a ministry; this is the highest and most special proof that he does not remember our sins. Even when we forgive an enemy, we are very slow to trust him; we judge it to be unwise to do so. But the Lord forgets our sins, and treats us as if we had never gone astray. Oh my soul, what a promise this is! Believe it and be happy.
Something to think about today if you’re feeling guilty: God does not remember your sins.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
