PRAYER FOR THE CHURCH (BY SPURGEON)

You have promised to hear your people’s prayer, and our prayer today must be according to your mind; it is for the honor of your dear Son; and it is put up in faith, put up in faith in Jesus; therefore you cannot run back from it, but Thou must keep that word to which in humble, but adoring faith, we hold you—“My word shall not return unto me void.” Give us then a great increase to the church, by the preaching of the gospel this morning.

Amen.

WEEKEND LONG READ (SERMON BY SPURGEON)

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” (John 14:26)

The Holy Spirit is an active comforter; he does not comfort by words, but by deeds. Some comfort by, "Be ye warmed, and be ye filled, giving nothing." But the Holy Spirit gives, he intercedes with Jesus; he gives us promises, he gives us grace, and so he comforts us. Mark again, he is always a successful Comforter; he never attempts what he cannot accomplish.

A FREE RESOURCE FROM MIDWESTERN

Above Reproach

In the first season of Midwestern’s new podcast, The Heart of Pastoring, Jared Wilson and Ronnie Martin are walking through the qualifications for pastors in 1 Timothy 3. This is a challenging and encouraging series that any Christian would benefit from.

PREPARE FOR MINISTRY AT MIDWESTERN

What Jesus purchased is precious. We've made it our purpose. Midwestern Seminary exists for the church, and we serve the church by biblically educating God-called men and women to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ. If you're called to serve the church, train with us, for the Church.
