DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord, during the few days that remain to us here below, be it all our business to cry, ā€œBehold the Lamb!ā€ Teach these hearts to be always conscious of your love and then teach these lips, that they may set out as best they can, by your divine help, the matchless story of the cross. Allow us to win many to Jesus; let us not be barren, but may we have to cry that we are the beloved of the Lord and our offspring with us. May we have many spiritual offspring who will go with us to the throne, so that we may say before him, ā€œHere I am with the children the LORD has given meā€ (Isaiah 8:18).

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œFor you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.ā€ (1 Peter 1:18–19)

We are told in Leviticus that ā€œit is the blood with the life that makes atonementā€ (17:11). God never forgave sin apart from blood under the law. This stood as a constant law: ā€œApart from the shedding of blood there is no forgivenessā€ (Hebrews 9:22). There is no other plan by which sinners can be made at one with God except by Jesus’ precious blood. I may make sacrifices; I may mortify my body; I may be baptized; I may receive sacraments; I may pray until my knees grow hard with kneeling; I may read devout words until I know them by heart; I may celebrate masses; I may worship in one language or in fifty languages. But I can never be at one with God except by blood, and that blood, ā€œthe precious blood of Christ.ā€

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Faifi of Saudi Arabia.

Becoming a Christian in Saudi Arabia will be costly. Converts will usually be disowned by their families and rejected by society.

Pray that God would save his people in Saudi Arabia, even though it will be costly.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

For married women who are serious about discipleship

Your marriage is a big part of your life in Christ. As we live so closely and intimately with another sinner, our own sins are revealed. If you are a wife, God has given us a unique calling to honor him as a wife. However, a lot of women I know WANT to grow as a wife but they aren’t sure how. Often, these women settle for mere external changes instead of lasting growth.

That’s why I created The God Centered Wife One-Year Journal, an interactive resource for women to use to create a grace-saturated, biblical plan to strengthen their marriages.

Throughout the journal, you’ll find 52 blank weekly pages filled with prompts about your life, marriage, and husband. You’ll be encouraged to think about what about your marriage is hard right now (and why) and cast those cares on to the Lord.

If you’re a bullet journal fan, each week also comes with a dotted grid page for your to-do list, calendar, or anything else.

This journal (as well as the men’s edition for your husband) is available on Amazon. I hope you’ll pick up a copy for yourself, your husband, and a few more for married couples that you know.
