DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Oh Lord, we worship with all our heart and adore the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Most blessed Lamb of God, with all the saints before the throne, we pay you reverenceā€”casting all that we have before you. We have no crowns, not even of silver and gold, but we willingly lay everything you have graciously given us at your feet, content to feel that everything is ours when it is yours, and the more ours when we have yielded it up to you. We wish we could live for Jesus wholly, that there were no distractions, no secondary channels into which the stream of life could flow, but that as he is all to us, so all of us might live for him alone. And now we present ourselves before the throne of God in the name of Jesus Christ our great High Priest.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œNow to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.ā€ (1 Timothy 1:17)

Paul styles him the King invisible; for as yet we see not all things put under him and his reign is perceived by faith rather than by sight. The Lord Jesus is invisible to mortal eyes and therefore our service must be rendered by the spirit rather than through the senses. He must be trusted if we are to draw near to him.

An unseen Lord, who can only be known to our faith, has saved us, and will save us, world without end. We do not have a King that we have seen or touched, or whose voice we have audibly heard; but ours is a King who is invisible, and yet moves among us, mighty to save. Thanks be to the Holy Spirit for giving us eyes of faith to see him who is invisible and hearts to trust and to rest upon an invisible Lord!

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, weā€™re praying for the Lisi of Chad.

The Kuka, one group of the Lisi, are primarily farmers. Chad has had several years of bad droughts, making farming a challenge.

Pray that God would send rain on the Lisi.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

The realities of persecution today*

When faith is forbidden, it becomes more precious. As persecuted Christians around the world are forced  to daily consider if Jesus is worth the pain they will inevitably face, they find themselves constantly recalling all the praiseworthy things about Jesus.

The cost is real, but the Savior is worthy.

Iā€™ve been reading the stories of 40 persecuted Christians from all around the world in the book, When Faith is Forbidden. I picked up a copy of this book several months ago and I was not ready for the powerful resource that I had stumbled onto.

This book is an incredible journey of faith alongside our brothers and sisters who face serious consequences for their commitment to Christ. The book really did encourage me.

Thatā€™s why I was so excited when Voice of the Martyrs approached me about promoting the FREE audiobook this month to Pray with Spurgeon readers.

This is such a valuable resource and I know that having the audiobook will bless you. Listening to the powerful stories of these persecuted Christians will bring supernatural grace to your every day drives or chores.
