DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord God, the unnumbered armies, washed in the blood, are bowing before you now, proclaiming eternal honors to him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb. Behold, all the angels in heaven join in the same adoration, ascribing all honor and praise unto the Lord our God. And we, in the outward rank, further off from the central throne, bow also, and here upon this darkened planet we worship him who made heaven and earth. We worship the blessed one who has redeemed us with his precious blood, and we worship that glorious Spirit by whom we have been quickened and called unto the knowledge of God. Unto the one God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob, the God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to him be glory forever and ever, and from the very bottom of our hearts we utter this our doxology.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œAbraham answered, ā€˜God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ Then the two of them walked on together.ā€ (Genesis 22:8)

A ram was provided. Isaac goes free; not so the ram. Isaac’s blood still flows in his veins; not so that of the poor ram; the knife sternly severs his arteries, and the blood flows out. Look earnestly, gaze intently, linger fondly on the picture, for it represents your own salvation. Let us take the place of Isaac; it is ours. We are children according to promise. If we, beloved, have ā€œfled for refuge… to seize the hope set before usā€ (Hebrews 6:18), we are saved, because our Lord Jesus Christ, the ram of God’s burnt offering, did burn upon the altar for us, we are spared. It would baffle me to tell how Isaac felt when the cords were unbound, and he saw how narrowly he had escaped from death. Nor can I tell you how I felt when standing at the foot of the cross.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Faifi of Saudi Arabia.

The Faifi are a language group of 45,000 people. As far as we know, there are no Christians among them, no Bible in their language, and no churches in their culture. They will never hear the gospel unless someone brings it from the outside.

Pray that God would send missionaries to the Faifi.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

Christmas Gift Idea for Christian Men and Women

I’m so thankful to hear testimonies about how God is using my resource, The God Centered Husband One-Year Journal and The God Centered Wife One-Year Journal, to help strengthen a lot of marriages this year.

These hands-on resources give you a blank page to fill out every week to help you consider what burdens your spouse will have this week and how you can help them.

It also has a lot of bonus features, like 52 conversation starters for couples, a one-year Bible reading plan, weekly devotionals to remind you of Jesus’ love for imperfect husbands and wives.

I hope you’ll grab one for yourself (your spouse will thank you later!)

I also hope you’ll buy copies for all of the married Christians on your shopping list.

God has been at work to make a difference in so many marriages through these journals, so I hope you’ll grab a copy today.

These journals are available on Amazon:
