DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We begin with adoration. We worship from our hearts the three in one, the infinitely glorious Lord, the only living and true God. We adore the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob. We have not yet ascended to the place where pure spirits behold the face of God, but we shall soon be there, perhaps much sooner than we think, and we long to be there in spirit now, casting our crowns upon the glassy sea before the throne of the infinite majesty, ascribing glory and honor, and power and praise, and dominion and might to him who sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“The twenty-four elders fall down before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne…” (Revelation 4:10–11)
Now, beloved, let us imitate them in this. “Oh!” say you, “but I cannot wear a crown as they do.” Nevertheless, you are a king; for they who are Christ’s are kings. Take care, brother, that you wear your crown, by reigning over your lusts. Reign over your sins. Reign over your passions. Be as a king in the midst of all who would lead you astray. Christ Jesus has broken the neck of your sin; put your foot upon it; keep it under; subdue it. Be king in the dominions of your own being.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Afshari of Iran.
God has promised that people from “nations of every language” will seek him (Zechariah 8:23). No one from the Afshari has ever sought him.
Pray that God would save his people among the Afshari.
