DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Blessed God, Father, Son, and Spirit, our whole spirit would worship you; yet we have clear enough knowledge of your goodness that we might not be overawed with your greatness; such a sense of your nearness in the person of Jesus Christ, the man, the branch, that we might not be driven away with terror, but may be drawn near with fatherly love and holy boldness. Lord, there was once a great gulf between us, but you have bridged that gulf; for now the Lord Jesus Christ is brother to our souls, yet he is also the Son of the highest; truly man, yet truly God, he is the Interpreter, one of a thousand, the bright and morning star, who lays his hand upon us both today. Oh how we rejoice in Christ and you rejoice in him too. We long to glorify him and you also delight to glorify your Son. We long to set him on high and you have set him āfar above all principalities and powers, and every name that is named.ā
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āFor the LORD is great and is highly praised; he is feared above all gods.ā (Psalm 96:4)
He is no petty deity, presiding, as the heathen imagined their gods to do, over one nation or one department of nature. The Lord is great in power and dominion, great in mind and act; nothing mean or narrow can be found in him or his acts, in all things he is infinite.
We cannot praise him too much, too often, too zealously, too carefully, too joyfully. He deserves that nothing in his worship should be little, but all the honor rendered unto him should be given in largeness of heart, with the utmost zeal for his glory.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weāre praying for the Bunu of China.
Godās Word promises that Jesus will be worshiped by āa vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and languageā (Revelation 7:9). The Bunu WILL worship Christ one day.
Pray that God would be glorified among the Bunu.
