DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We bless you divine Son of God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father, that you did not disdain to be born of the virgin, and that, being found in fashion like a man, you did not refuse to be obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Let your head be covered with something better than thorns; let the eternal diadem glitter there forever. You were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood; unto you be glory, and honor, and power, and majesty, and dominion, and might, forever and ever!

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” (Luke 2:7)

Heavenly glory has wedded earthly poverty; and, from now on, let no man dare to despise the poor and needy, since the Son of the Highest was born in a stable and cradled in a manger. How low the King of glory stoops, and how gloriously he uplifts the lowly to share his glory!

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Kakabe of Guinea.

When Jesus was born, he was worshiped by wise men from other nations. When Jesus ascended, he sent his disciples to make disciples of all nations. This commission is still ours today.

Pray that Christians would go to the Kakabe to share the good news of Jesus.
